Nothing in this exhibition quite captures the sense of loss as this image. That the girl had something, and now it is gone. And that she knows it and the release from her hand is neither her first nor her last ‘goodbye’.
The Hotel Zaatari photographs were taken in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan by the internationally acclaimed photographers Anthony Dawton and Jim Macfarlane. The photographs are important works of art and stand as a testament to a people that are lost and shunned by the rest of the world. Their longing to be heard and seen, and most of all understood underlies the theme of Dawton and Macfarlane’s work.
